There was an estimated six more weeks before they'd get any fresh faces around here, as all travel from regular merchants had been halted until the waters receded. There were ferries, certainly, but they weren't effective in handling crowds and so it just remained a national habit to simply wait out the fall and winter months, relying on the smaller fishing boats to keep their stock of food up.

She leaned against the wood counter at the Flute and Flagon, one of the local 'watering holes' of the community and the one she most frequented. So frequently that one might even suggest she lived there. She did, in a sense... boasting two jobs that rooted themselves in this very building. On one hand she was a mender of cuts, curer of illness, on the other hand she was just one of many available entertainment. She could sing, dance, and more if asked. The fall and winter months were slower, though. There weren't as many people so far from home they needed a little company and Jaqueline, as immoral as she could be, did draw a line when she knew they were seeking pleasure in a manner that broke promises. Currently she was flirting with a fellow coworker, someone she didn't feel was so off limits, flashing him her sunniest smile and a laugh that sparkled. It was also her job to keep their spirits up.

"They'll fly right on by, promise, just try to enjoy the extended vacation. Say, why don't we take a trip to the shrines?"

An almost joyous whistling carried in the air above the man who walked down the streets. With the tide still in it seemed the waters dampened the spirits of most of those around him. But not Gibs. No, he held an almost cocky smile on his face as he traversed his town in search of something to wet his whistle.

There was no particular need to be cheery... but then again there wasn't a reason not to, right? Especially since he didn't need to use that silver tongue of his to weed a drink from some doe-eyed maiden today. No sir he actually had a spot of coin to get him through the day. Maybe even get himself a bottle of something strong. So he pushed through that door, making his usually showy entrance before going to find himself a place to sit.

If it weren't for that cocky smirk on his lips, Gibs could probably pass for an intimidating man. Not for his size or stature surely for of these things he was actually quite average. But upon his face laid a trail of scars he had collected over his life. A set of slices over each brow were probably the most noticeable. The right set carried down over his eye to his cheek and then again to his jaw like one long claw mark. Across the bridge of his nose was a deep welt that seemed to threaten to split it in half which matched his ear. His body was not spared when it came to scars, but instead was covered by his showy wardrobe. His dark cotton shirt was rolled up to his elbows, which showed off a select few to whoever happened to be around to notice them on his tanned forearms.

Leaning back in his chair, waiting to be noticed he would kick his boots up onto the table. His hands tucked behind his head in a resting position. Today would be a good day, right?

Chanson Isolee despite its size was very much the sort of community where everyone knew each other by some route of networking. Being cooped up for several months at a time while the waters flooded around the fortress-city would ensure that and even the hermit would find that people were well aware of who they were, even if all they knew was that they preferred to be alone. Jaqueline made it a point to treat everyone as if they were regulars, using various tactics to get around actually knowing their name until it simply came up by her or another's weaseling.

She nudged the coworker with her gilded hip, ending the previous suggestion of a trip to note the arrival of another. They exchanged a brief look before it was decided silently that she would take this one. Pushing off the bar she would part from one man and make her way to the other. She hopped up on the table next to his boots, adjusting herself casually for a prominent display that was all too second nature for her with a teasing and sultry grin plastered on her unmarred face. "What's your fancy today? A swallow of spirits? Feast of flesh? Or maybe just the consummation of company?"
